Encaustics
The first time I saw a contemporary artist use encaustic in his painting, I was blown away! These large canvases were by Philippe Cognée.
The wax adds a specific atmosphere and a soft visual touch to the paintings. So I decided to try it for real. I was lucky to meet Janise Yntema who thought me the basics of the technique in a couple of hours.

Color Harmony
To explore harmonies of colour, I started with a simple geometric model and painted the elements with gouache. To give them relief, I added stitching in coloured thread. This simple touch suddenly transformed the gouache material visually. See for yourself by exploring the dedicated gallery.
